and I won’t. Didn’t see Happy Gilmore 2 either. Or the new Superman.

I was at the gym recently (an unfortunate rarity) and I went with someone. And so I assumed no need for headphones, figured we would talk and work out together. My mistake, they had dual airpod turbo music/video rotation going.

And so I was left with the screens. A sea of moving shapes and colors. Different people talking from behind desks. A game show. A girls softball tournament game with commentary. CNN on one, FOX on the other. Endless down the line. Flashed back at every angle from the wall to wall mirrors.

A few things I noted. You cannot look but to see an ad. Ads ads ads. Buy this. Get that. Need this service. Do this now. New car. New medication. New insurance. Mindless bullshit for minutes on end and unescapable. I also realized every screen is a combination of red white and blue. From CNN obviously but even the wheel of fortune and jeopardy game shows. Every backdrop and commercial break and outfit was some variation of red, white, blue and black. Weird to notice. Also, more than 50% of the teenage girls on the softball screen were fat.

It’s a tough thing to call a young girl fat. But they weren’t just chubby or baby fat. They were overweight. They were athletic and good at the sport. Presumably ate their wheaties that morning. I’m sure their folks were over the line BBQ country bubkins. But whatever, I felt bad for these girls. The culture and whatever is in the water wherever they are growing up, is clogging their arteries and plumping their bodies before they are even done with puberty.

How do you not look around and realize at some point you’re killing and making your daughter ugly? Because of the food you eat and your big truck? Is it worth it to eat meat and grits?

Anyway I did not see the lastest flicks. And I don’t want to see them. I don’t want to watch more ads, see my red white and blue, and make little girls fat with candy and popcorn. I don’t care how they reinvent superman. I don’t care what same old role Pedro Pascal is in. He’s literally had the same haircut the last 10 times you’ve seen him. There is nothing new in this medium of film in terms of superheroes and rehashed Adam Sandler. Did he run out of money gambling or something? Who are these movies even for? Children and parents? Nostalgia buffs are diseased.

My grandmother turned 70 last week. You’ll perhaps do the math and think that is young, it is. I’m a product of a series of under twenty year old pregnancies. I’ve thankfully broken the chain. She wished for Olive Garden for her bash dinner.

I was prepared for disaster of course. The quality of food there is unbelievable. I cannot believe they are in business let alone opening up a new location every other corner. At least I couldn’t believe until I sat down and listened. Granted, I live somewhere where Mexican food is the go-to ‘out’ as well as home cooked meal. The way these people (all old ugly and fat I noted) spoke about Italian food like it was an entirely new and foreign cuisine. They tried to relate marinara to ‘a kind of sweet pepper sauce’. Infinite streams of breadsticks flowed and the special featuring such delicacies as shrimp with an alfredo ‘milky’ sauce. I looked around and saw grey hair, bulbous forms, children with ipads, and horrible microwaved super processed foods.

The food was disgusting. I had salad and some soup. My grandmother couldn’t bare to finish her chicken parm and I had a bite. I then had heartburn until I fell asleep. And as Randir will attest, I vomited several times that morning on our run.

I’m not saying the sheep need to wake up or anything. Its just incredible what people don’t look around themselves and see. See that they are ugly and fat. That they are making their children ugly and fat. How stupid do you have to be to not realize you’re stupid?

Hey man all these movies suck? Why do you pay to see them when you know they’ll suck and offer nothing new or interesting?
